Mayor’s corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers:
The Village Board meeting will be on Wednesday, March 11, at 7:00 pm at the Village Hall. This change was brought about due to the election on March 18 at the Village Hall.
This week our police department says goodbye to Detective Emily McNamara. Emily is retiring and will take over the position of judge for the Town of LeRoy. Throughout Emily’s career she was a patrol officer, sergeant, and did some great work as a detective in the drug task force. She was the first female to be hired as a police officer in LeRoy, and possibly the first female to be judge here as well. The board thanks Emily and wishes her all the best, we know she will be a fantastic judge. The Board and I extend the deepest gratitude to Emily for a career well served.
The LeRoy volunteer fire department held its annual awards dinner on January 31st. The top honor of fireman of the year was awarded to Jim Davis. Congratulations to Jim and the other award winners. On behalf of our whole community, “THANK YOU” to the department.
Here is a great quote from Theodore Roosevelt going into budget season: “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
